it´s your timing advance. check the ATU (behind the contact ponts) to make sure it is mechanically sound (is the spring sticking?) and re-set your timing after you´ve replaced the points. Also re-seat your valves at this time. All you´ll need is a couple of sockets, the replacement ponts a set of feeler guages and a oil pan...Good Luck.
