Right-side shift??

Right-side shift??

I have a ´74 sporty that my Dad and I chopped, I have been getting conflicting thoughts as to why my bike is a right-side shift. Some say that was the last year HD made right-side shift, others say that it is a european HD? Can someone answer this for me?
