I have a 74 XLCH I just bought. The previous owner was hice enough to give me a service manuel for it. The engine oil capacity is 3 quarts (Mine has a later model oil tank and exsternal oil filter and cooler so it is more like 4 qts.) The tranny capacity is 1.5 Pints. Most people recomend 20w50 for the engine and tranny. I just had the clutch replaced at my local shop and they filled the tranny with an 80 weight synthedic oil. I run Mobil 1 (15W50) in my engine and am thinking of putting it in the tranny next oil change.
