81 Sportster crankshaft early or late

Need to replace the flywheels on my Ironhead. 81 has a early and a late version. It seems part numbers differ. How do I identify which engine style I have? Mine appears not to use a key on the sprocket shaft. anyone have a crank assembly for cheap that will fit?
