78 CB400 shuts off and wont start |

I have a 78 Honda Hawk 400 with about 5k miles. Last year I started to have an issue with the bike shutting off. For some reason I was not getting spark. I replaced the coil and got a fat blue spark right away and thought the problem was fixed. A few days later the same thing happened, it would run fine, then shut off and would not start. Once I get the bike home and battery charged, the bike would fire up again only to shut down soon after. Last week i installed a brand new OEM rectifier. It ran for abut an hour and shut off. Battery is reading a constant 12v and goes up to 14v when i rev the motor. Does have any experience or knowledge about this issue? I am 32 and bought this bike when i was 15 so at this point its a labor of love. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rick |
