KM100 will not idle with out choke and runs lean |

I have a 71 km100. its a barn find I bought a few weeks back. Its almost mint and a blast to ride. The issue I am having is it will not idle without the choke and runs lean. Second Issue. I have to take off with the choke on and once in mid gear, I can then close the choke. When I slow down to come to a stop, I have to pull the choke back on to keep from stalling out. After about 20 mins of riding. It will bog out and sound like its under water. I will let it rest for 20 mins and it fires back up like it never happened for about another 20 mins. Had a friend call me one day and was hard up for money. He asked me if he could barrow a few bucks till Friday because he was short. (one of my young labors and his wife just had a baby.) So I got to his house and I met him out back at his shed and saw the bike. I asked if he would part with it and he and he said sure. He told me it was his fathers and it had not run in years and was just taking up space. It also had a lic plate on it and he had a clean title. No joke the speedo was at 1005 miles. The tank was empty and no rust visible in the tank. The pant and chrome where almost perfect. It needed a new tail light lens and bulb and the posts for the flasher had rotted. other than that.... It was perfect. SO one hand washing another... Got it home, checked the fuel valve and cleaned what vary little junk it had on it. Pulled the carb and cleaned everything top to bottom. filled with fluids, and replaced the plug and would you know it.... It fired up on the first kick. You can´t beat the old bike. So its the original makuni carb and it has no adjustments other then idle and the oil pump looks brand new. I know looks can be deceiving. So I advanced the oil pump throttle body valve by hand at idle and I could get it rich enough that I fowled a plug on purpose to at least make sure the pump works. I´m scared to adjust the jam nut on the cable to test it under load and I´m seeking for wisdom on the situation that´s beyond my years. Please help. I will take any information I can get. - Thanks from the Beef!! P.S. What the hell if any difference is in between the KM100 and KE100. Just a burning question I have. I´m a tattooed Safety Coordinator. I´m like a normal Safety Coordinator. Except much Cooler. Real life skills are not built in a collage. They are built by the mistake a man makes in life trying to be successful. |
