The 78 GS 1000 starter clutch removal and inspection

When I went for a ride and try to start her,the starter just turned but not with the motor.I´m guessing there is some type of BENDIX set up in side.I pulled the L/S primary cover only to find some magnetic resistance in pulling the cover a small flt wheel and 2 or 3 gears. When I breifly hit the starter button with the cover off, everything spun.I´m guessing she sheared off a pin or some thing.I am a auto mechanic and besides doing ALL my work on my own through talking to people and referring to repair manuels,I´d like to know what I´m up against and what to look for after shes opend up.Suzuki said 293 for the whole clutch, but what ever I need I´m doing a quick E-Bay search for a hopefully OEM replacment part for less than list.can any one help me out on this ?? I was never inside the L/S of the skunk. Thanks to all who can help..........Mike From NY
