GS1000 ENGINE CONVERSION

Hi, ive got a 1978 suzuki gs1000s, its been sat in my garage for 5yrs now, body work, frame and paint is mint, unfortunately the engine has seen better days and is a ´no-go´ im a mechanic and have had it apart, its way beyond a quick spit and polish,
so my question.....ive been told a 1200 bandit engine may go in, it will just be a temp solution until i get mine reconditioned so i dont want to start cutting the frame or major mods!!
any thoughts? thanks, chris!!
