yeah they need a lot of attention but that´s not so unusual for these vintages. first tip is to learn to do your own work. one nice thing is that things are easy to get at & repair, for example you can replace the clutch on the roadside with 3-4 wrenches and a big socket. oil lines can develop perfs resulting in need for oil pump priming. fix this with new lines periodically. polarizing generator is easy when necessary. watch for cracks in welds that attach oil tank to frame. recommend braided steel brake lines. i´ve heard these models were made in extremely limited numbers. anyone know how many were produced in ´83? went to sturgis in ´94 and did not see a single bike like mine. hmmm. |
