new owner, burns oil and a few questions |

Hi. I just inherited a 75 xs750se from my father in law, and I love it. It rides nice, but it takes a while to actually warm up, it stalls out a lot during this warm up with the choke on, but once it is warm, it doesnt stall usually. It does run nicely, but after about 20 or 30 miles, I can smell oil burining, and it smokes a bit every now and then, but not always which is a bit weird. I have changed the oil and filter, but same thing. I am wondering what I should check, or if there is a checklist of sorts to see what can be wrong, or what should be done anyway just to make sure it continues to ride well. I am not a mechanic, but I could change the brakes and what not if needed, so I am sure with guidence I could do almost anything... Thanks Andy |
