Push Rod Play

My 77 sporty 1000cc Iron head only runs one one cylinder and spits oil out of the carb. I poped the push rod covers off and noticed the intake pushrod for the front cylinder has about 1inch of play! Im thinking broken valve spring mabey? Any ideas?
