1977 CB550 Charging Problem

I do a little bike work on the side. A guy brought over a sweet, clean looking 1977 CB550. He wants to carbs cleaned. He rode it over with no problems, probably like a 30 mile ride. But when he got to my house and shut the bike down there wasn´t any power. The battery read 2 volts. I put it on the charger for a bit and kicked it over and it started rite up. The # 3 carb is clogged because the header is cold at start up/shortly after.

Why isn´t this thing charging the battery. I hate to think its the stator. What about the rectifier?

Email me at ndesautels@fedsig.com if you have any ideas.

Thanks

Nick
