rode an amf flh 10 years, broken, busted, disappointed, slooow, heavy, lumbering and tired of being passed by vws, sold for 8500, looked for a z1, found a 78 750 f, guy thought it sounded like marbles in motor more like marbles in his head, test rode and passed a superglide at 85mph like he was standing still, bought for 900, ten years later still riding 750 f and ffff´n lovin´ it, never repaired anything but normal maintain, it is still worth what i paid and i haven´t put a dime in it for pistons, transmissions, starters, gas tanks, stators, chains, cylinders, like the glorious hd, biggest lie i ever believed, ya never see old jap bikes...bull...i see tons more old jap on the road but you don´t see even a shovelhead anymore cause the bikes like the 750f are built better, run faster and longer, more dependable, cheaper to maintain and dollar for dollar are a better investment,i spent 25 years as a tool maker and have rebuilt hd engines complete down to balancing the flywheels to 2 tenths so any hd sympathizers out there that want to ´correct´ me better have their credentials in order first, i´ll put my 900 dollar 750f against any hd the same age, we run out about 2000 miles and see the result, i could go on but you get the point, if you want to get more fast fun for your buck and not waste time troubleshooting an overweight slug pick up a 750f, the 750 is the original bike that sent the yank and brit bikes back to school in 1969...it´s a fact jack, nuff said.
