| My dad has had an ´89 XT 350 for about 16 years which I nearly rode the wheels off of after I grew tall enough to ride it! In answer to your question, about how to check the oil, it is a little awkward, but not too difficult. First, get on level ground. If you squat down on the right side and push the rear brake pedal down, you should be able to see a small, round sight glass. In order to actually check the oil, you need to (it helps to have two people here) stand the bike straight up and look at the sight glass. You should be able to see the oil come in and fill the window up. If it fills the window, the oil is full, and I think you only need to change/add some if it is below the window. Hope this helps. This is one of the best running bikes I´ve seen, and it is pretty much bullet-proof. I love that bike, but my dad wouldn´t let me bring it up to college with me. oh, if you are mainly doing off-road riding on hills, you might look into getting a bigger rear sprocket (one with more teeth). It´ll take 10mph off the top speed, but hill climbing, and putting around in first doing more technical riding is much easier.
