1989 intruder 750 fuel pump problem

Have a interesting problem with my fuel pump. Rode the bike for 70 miles the day before let it sit over night and now it pukes fuel out of the number one carb. Already cleaned and inspected the needle valve and the floats. Re adjusted float level to 27.7mm exact as recommended by the suzuki manual. cleaned the entire fuel line set and replced fuel filter. Gas is poaring out the bowl vent in the top of the carb. I was told by a few people that the fuel pump has failed and is over pressurising the carbs. Is it possible for the pump to fail this way? Has anyone else had this problem? Pleases help!!!!
