First thing is to look up the Motorcycle Safety Foundation on the web, and sign up for a beginner´s class. Next, go lay out some real money for a good DOT and Snell Foundation approved helmet, (full face is best). Then, get a good riding outfit, either leathers, kevlar, or ballistic nylon. Draggin´ Jeans is an outfit in North Carolina that makes jeans with kevlar reinforced seat and knees. They might also make something in the way of a hot weather jacket. Call them up and ask for advice. Kevlar and nylon are more comfortable in hot weather than leather, but get whatever you´ll actually wear. Get some good boots and gloves too. Don´t skimp on safety equipment. Buy a motorcycle magazine and look at the ads; some companies cater to women, so just call them up and they can help a lot. And, . . . Enjoy your ride.
