you need to find out your ideal seat height. get yourself an adjustable chair, or use a stack of books and a stool. Adjust your height, while sitting in a bikers position. When you find your seat height (ususally 4 to 6 inches less than your inseam) start research bikes with that seat height. Remember, you can purchase custom seats that reduce the amount of foam in the seat, but can use alternate cushioning materials (like gels) to make it just as comfortable. And, some bikes have lowering kits made for them. Also,,,, MOST IMPORTANTLY, 98 percent of bikes have adjustable Dampeners on the rear shock steams. These are usually refered to as Pre-load adjustments. Get the dealers to adjust them to the lowest settings for you before climbing aboard. I suggest you start looking at crusier bikes. Visit dealerships that carry a variety of brands, and try them on for size. Finally, if you do find a bike that fits your height, make the dealer adjust everything to "fit you". Handlebar adjustments, etc are vital . Reaching the ground, handlebars and controls is only half the feat.... make sure that you have enough room to turn the handlebars without changing body position, and without shifting on the seat to touch the ground. I am 5 feet 6 in. and find the seat height of my Honda Magna to be perfect. You could ride it too! It has a racers engine, and a cruiser´s good looks. Plus, I can ride it all day, without getting cramps from being hunched over the gas tank, with my weight on my arms. Try one on for size. Good luck!
