He had a wider tread pattern on the tire so it you can lean more into it, but tho it is not true in some cases bigger is not always better. The manufacturer of a bike gives them a particular size which best suits the bike for riding on the road or @ the track, I have the original size on mine and had a 180/60/17 on it originally when i bought the bike, I enjoy leaning my rocket into anything i come up against and prefer a bigger tire, it all boils down to the rider and their style.
