I own a 96 super 3 and a 96 daytona 1200. The 1200 has what feels like a fuel starvation problem when cranked past 5 grand . The slip-ons are alot less restrictive and the k&n element (labeled as a 900 fitment although both the 12oo four and 900 triple have the same part #) The stock jets where small, like 102.5´s. All I could find reading on this era Triumphs--alot I might add---indicates jets in the 120-125 size. Thats what I went with and shimmed the needles up slightly. The bike runs like a rocket sometimes and like its on two cylinders the next, and when it starts running like crap, it doesnt seem to clear up. I am a well prepared, experienced motorcycle mechanic, I have cleaned the carb rack in a sonic bath--state of the atr stuff, and the intake boots are on all the way. The floats were set a bit higher than stock and the fuel lines are not pinched. I wonder what this bike would feel like if it ran good.I´d like to find out. |
