On smoke. This occurs when starting after ´winter hibernation´. I have noticed this both times I´ve made the first spring rides(bought a -00 TB in -01). Most likely caused by old gas in the carburettors. The proper thing to do is to drain the carburettors and the tank then fill up with new fresh gas - but I´m too impatient. Could be a slight mismatch in adjusting the three carbs. Not even the mechanics at my local Triumph dealer got it quite right last time it was due for service. On the bike. Otherwise I´m as happy as can be with my bike. My friends (driving Honda, Ducati, Harry Parkinson) keep jabbering about changes they want to, or ´must´, do to their bikes - and even (often!) about trading them in for something else. But I just keep riding. I might buy a centre stand, but it´s really nothing absolutely necessary. The big advantage of this model is it looks like an old cruiser-type replica (it has almost NO PLASTIC) but it´s got an engine of standard type (if there is such a thing) with its 69 horses and 69 Nm @ 4000 rpm. And when you give it a little extra throttle to get away a little quicker you really get a good response. I strongly recommend anyone who likes to get down a bit in the corners to rid the bike of the Pirellis it comes with and go for a sportier kind of tyre. I put on Avon AV45/AV46 (Azaro ST) and now I´m almost down to the footrests out on the ´curvier´ roads. Great fun! David |
