The problem is that the inner gear cog has separated from the outer cog at the gear between the Starter and the Alternator. The Starter spins the outer gear but the unit is made of rubber and the inner gear has split from the outer so it is not spinning with the outer. The inner gear is where the Alternator gear teeth connect with the Starter, so the Alternator gear is not spinning which means it is not charging even though there is nothing wrong with it. I believe this problem is a recall by Suzuki so the repair should be free.
