Battery breather tube

Battery breather tube

Hi,the battery breather tube has come off ,I was told that this is not crucial but having read about it on the net it warns of corrosion and damage ,it looks as if there is no way out of the tool box where it is located without trapping it,help!!!! any info welcome,thanks Vivien
