You may have decided already, but I recently bought the same bike (same model and year) with 6100 miles for $1200, and I thought it was priced right. So I´d say that your price is good.

As far as mileage, that is quite a few, but, if the bike runs well, doesn´t smoke, and starts good, I´d bet it still has another 20000 left in it. For $1000 for a usable, street ready bike, you´ll definitely get your money out of it, even if it is higher mileage.

Let me know if/when you decide, and how you like it! I´m lovin mine so far!
