Yes the 88 slingshot is a very fun bike. I had one a few years ago as my second bike after owning a 87 RZ350. Always been a fan of the GSXR and this bike was great. I haven´t ridden another since so I don´t know how mine would have stacked up in comparison. It had a few mods that would have changed the performance but I´m not sure by how much. Guess I´ll have to ride a stock to find out. Mods included a cheater rear sprocket, 5.5" marvec rear rim (180/50/17 rubber), fox shock, 40mm mikuni flat top carbs from an RR, 1100 front discs, full duplex system, K&N´s, etc... A buddy had a 91 F2 at the same time and there was no comparison. Unfortunately, as I´ve heard is common with that year, 2nd gear ceased to exist. Does anyone know if this problem was cleared up in 89 or did it continue through till the change in 91? Looking at buying an 89 and wondering. Any info would be great.
