I brought a 87 Honda xl600r, ran and drove prefectly. But after putting on 2 miles on it, the clutch basket broke on me. So I had to replace the basket and the damage case cover. So I get all the new parts put on the bike and sealed the case with a thin bead of silicone. Went to tried to kick start it and the kick starter doesn´t want to return to the starting position. So I loosen up the cover and tried it again and WORKED. So I tighten it back down and it didn´t work. So I tried the old damage cover and it works if it is loose or tight. What can I do to fix this problem? Does the gasket acts as a shim? If it does why does my old cover works without a gasket on it? Thanks, Kyle
