I found that turning the engine over with the compression release a number of times both with and without the key on and the choke all the way on (when cold) then kicking from TDC... yea, I know... but I was also afraid of flooding the carbs but the problem I was having was the throttle needed to be twisted enough times to get some gas in it and ready to keep running once it caught and was firing...
