I use my 750c to commute to work in heavy traffic. The water cooling is a must and the high torque of the V twin is ideal for the stop and go as well as keeping the bike narrow and nimble. Also the big indicators and upright riding position add to the commuting safety. The similar style new Honda models should do as well, but just hope they can stand the wear and tear as well as the 750c which has now done 90,000kms and is still going strong!
