Just pulled my 1987 GSXR-750H out of storage after four years. I forgot how easy and wonderful these bikes are to build and run. If you haven´t ridden and nice example of this one, try it! You´ll see how Suzuki stormed the Superbike world in the mid-80s. With a proper aftermarket suspension set-up, and some mild engine work, a good rider can hang with most of the new bikes on the street. 17" wheel conversions are common on these old GSXRs (mine are stock). Many of the 90´s GSXR wheels will bolt right up. Upside down GSXR forks will too. STREET HINTS: 1. If you are running with the lower fairing on, and like to ride REAL hard, I would advise trimming the center of the lower out, or removing it all together, and adding heavy-duty engine side covers (NRC, YOSH, etc.) It is REAL easy to scrape the lower when transversing corners. It will junk a nice paint job real quick, and eventually wear a hole through the fairing. 2. APE makes a KILLER top-end oiling kit that bolts right on. The Yosh and factory rides used these (albeit, CUSTOM made ones) in the 80s. The APE kit bolts right up and significantly helps decrease cam and lifter wear. 3. An original Yosh duct kit (if you can find one) really helps decrease the turbulent air around the carbs when running velocity stacks, or individual filters. You can also make your own duct kit without too much trouble. This really helps smooth out carburetion. 4. If you want to HI-PO ANY old Suzuki air/oil cooled motor, I recommend welding and regrinding the rocker arms for the bigger cams. I used stock ones years ago, and it lunched a brand new set of Web Cams, due to the softer metal in the rocker arms. APE and Megacycle offer this service. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!!!!!
