I put 124K on my 1995 VT1100 Shadow Spirit b4 extremedees fell off & carb issues. I then purchased a 1996 VT1100 ACE in 2003 with 13K on it. I am now at 121K. Both bikes get + - 41 mpg still, depending how fast you ride. Lifter noise has always been there at idle. The gear shift in the ACE is so smooth I do not use the clutch from 2 to 5 or back down, therefore my clutch pressure plate is just now starting to slip if I get on it hard. My 95 Shadow Spirit, I used the clutch @ every shift & replaced the pressure plate @ 80k. I just purchased a 1997 Vulcan 1500 Classic with 7.5k on it. It gets 31 mpg which DOES NOT allow me to make a round trip to work & home b4 gas station. I may be going back to the proven & true Shadow VT1100.
