I´m having my 1996 Honda Shadow Ace VT1100C2 restored. I blew the headgaskets on it and couldn´t find a garage to store it in, so it sat for 2 1/2 years in my friends´ driveway. So far I calculate I have spent $5,175.00. I originally bought it for $3,100.00 in 2003 and put over 150,000 miles on it before the head gaskets blew. Not my fault, really, it was impounded and the impound yard left the ignition on until I was able to retrieve it. I think they went joy riding. Now I am having it restored and the mechanic keeps finding gaskets and o-rings that deteriorated while it was sitting. I do contend though that it should have been done a long time ago. It has been in his shop since November 5th 2008. It will be nice when its done, though. Regards, Robert |
