Doohickey spring type

I just bought a 1986 KLR 600. Seems like a solid bike. My question is that I am trying to order the doohickey upgrade kit and they offer the coil spring and the tension spring(same price) Which one do I need? Also if you want to share any other good or bad things about these bikes, I´d like to hear that as well.
