bought my vf500 this april and have been riding it ever since... it was idling a little high 3000 so this morning i found a little grey knob right behind the radiator at the center of the front carb and twisted it down a little (guessing it was the idle adj or the fuel mixture) anyways i hopped on and went to the bank which is a 5 mile ride and on my way back i was going about 60 and it started to act like it ran out of gas so out of habbit i switched it to the reserve tank and gave it gas (didn´t work) well about that time it made a squirting sound for like 2 or 3 seconds and lost all power... a lady behind me said there was a big poof of smoke and followed me until it died (she knew it was toast before i did) well i pulled over with it still running (no knocking or grinding noise ran fine just acted like it was out of gas) and it was squirting a little bit of oil out right inbetween the starter and the oil filter (bottom center of the front cyllinders)
before i tear down the bike, and pull the engine apart, i wanted to know if any vf500 owners have had this problem i was thinking it might have been a blown head gasket cause the oil was foamy like it had mixed with the antifreeze but i don´t know how the gasket on the bottom of the cyllinder would cause me to lose power like that
