To start your XL 600R Honda, put the choke full on. Do not give the bike any throttle as you kickstart it. If it only fires a few rounds after your 1st, 2nd, or 3rd kick; reduce your choke by 1/2 and repeat. When it does start, do not give it any throttle for a few seconds--just let it idle on its own for a short time, then throttle it up. It´s very important on these big carbuerated singles to go easy on the gas at start up--they flood real easy as opposed to a small one. If this doesn´t work, you´ve got a dirty carb, bad fuel, or a bike that needs a tune up. Mine used to give me fits in starting until I finally figured it out. Now it´s a 2 or 3 kick affair.
