1986 Electraglide Electrical Question

I am having problems with my electrical system. I replaced the entire charging system this weekend and still when I turn my lights on it drives fine. When I turn the spotlights on the ignition tries to cut out. What can cause this? Also, what lights come on when the ignition is in the "ON" position?
