I,ve had this bike since Dec. 1990. I´ve put over 106,000 miles on it and I still love riding it. I´ve only had one major problem. The alternator went out at about 90K miles. I bought a rebuilt one and it has been fine. It still has the original clutch but probably needs changing shortly. I´ve done all my own maintenance so I may be able to help in some cases. I tried several tires over the years but I get the best value out of the Dunlop D220. Others are stickier but the 220s last much longer but will spin rather than grip on hard power on. I generally ride it rain or shine as a commuter so I´m no racer. I enjoyed the Metzlers but couldn´t get much mileage out of them. I keep the carbs tuned with a Morgan Carbtune II. Nice tool! I run the Dynojet stage 3 with V&H header. At about 60K miles, it was running bad no matter what I did. Dynojet said that the original Aluminum needles were only good for 20K miles so they sent me a set of Titanium replacements free. It fixed the problem. I have rebuild the forks and am in need of doing it again. I ordered parts yesterday. I´ve adjusted the valves a few times so I have a few spare shims in my toolbox now. LOL. I´d love to hear from other owners. I need a front fender as mine is cracked. Anyone know where I could get it fixed or find another? I am in Louisiana.
