You can build your own diesel motorcycle for less than $5,000 much less if you are good at finding a bargain. I am getting a royal enfield completely refurbished like new with a petrol engine for $1900 shipped fairly close to me in Maine. A Hatz diesel 1B40(the same engine used in the Sommer costs $2900) I am starting with the gas engine because it will give me a clear tittle of the bike and costs less than getting just a frame and the diesel engine. Then when I have saved a little more I will get the diesel and work on converting it for biodiesel while I ride the gas. When its fully converted out with the gas and in with the veggie oil. (Close to free gas and 150+mpg!!). I am told I can get a refurbished diesel as well original to the enfield however they have higher vibration issues and poor emissions compared to the new Hatz engines, not to mention Hatz will last you the lifetime of your bike.
