Siorry about this rambling post, but I really hope someone can advise me on this.

Had the bike for a little over a week (see my post above).

Second ride today - an adventure ride.

Got about 30km from home and when I stopped at a checkpoint I noticed there was a loud clatter from the engine, which was otherwise going fine. Didn´t hear it at speed because of wind noise.

One of the guys who is a mechanic thought it was either cam chain or perhaps the starter motor clutch, which I see has been mentioned in dispatches by others.

I rode the bike home gently and have parked it up.

The noise appears to come from the Left side c/case cover and I think you can feel something in there knocking.

Is this noise symptomatic of a failed starter clutch?

The starter is otherwise working OK although this morning there was a strange noise in the starter at the end of the starter attempt when it took ages to start cold. (just put it down to my unfamiliarity with the mnew bike)

Started OK on the next button press though.

Any advice/help would be appreciated.
