I took this bike cagiva w16 1997 from my friend but I have to fix it. I have the same problem starting bike.
When I took this bike I knew starter burned out. I fixed this starter and it´s working ok now.
But I also found out that when you put starter in its place it´s seems like it has not enough power to start a bike.
Starter for this bike is small for 600 ccm because of great compresion. Therefor if you can not start you bike in 3 or 4 times do not force it because if you do it will burn!
This solution with manufacturing one-way roller clutch is very interesting!
Please send me your pictures and details.
Also if you have some more advice about this bike please write.
