906 Paso Body work, engine, trans but 87 750 paso VIN?

I just acquired this bike but I´m real confused. How is the VIN and title match but body work says 906 paso, engine is liquid cooled, dash has temp gauge? Did someone do a swap at some point is all I can think? Can someone help, please e-mail me.
