SR125 doesn´t start 99% of the time

Hello all, just wondering if anyone could help with a problem I´ve got with my SR125.

Nothing happens when I hit the starter button. Nada. No clicking, sparking etc. Zip. Except every so often (like 1% of the time!) something will, and she´ll start beautifully.

I´m not too up on my electrics but my Dad has taken the switch off and tested this - looks fine. He´s also bypassed the switch and on removing the spark plug has seen the bike is sparking okay. He´s tested *most* of the wiring and looks okay. The bike can be jump started (with difficulty, but it´s always been like that).

I.e. problem could be with battery or starter motor? Battery has been fully charged but don´t think the charge is the problem - like I say, 1% of the time she´ll start beautifully, no whining or struggling. Anyone know if it´s possible that either the battery or starter motor (or something else?) could be temperamental like this?

Haven´t used bike much in last 6 months but this problem still occurred back then, although probably more like 5% of the time (I´d flick the switch, nothing would happen, flick it again, and hey presto).

Somebody mentioned something about sensors in bike stand and possibly clutch? If these were playing up could they stop it starting?

Help!

Many thanks

Ross
