Commuted on SR for 44 000 miles over several years.
Good, reliable, economical (even more economical if you put a larger front sprocket on). Tops out at 60mph, good easy handling, but does not like to corner at a sharp angles on a wet road.
Makes you tired on a long trip. Fantastic for short trips and round town.

History
27 000 Front wheel bearings went.
at 35 000 cluch cable got stuck and was replaced.
Around 37 000 speedo cable rusted away and snapped.
at 42 000 compression was 10.5:1!
43 000 dropped the valve in to the combustion chamber (bastard thing). Expensive, but manageble.
Make sure that the tapperds are always properly adjusted, if they are not, loud clicking noise will be comming out of the cylinder head. Intake tapperd needs more attention than outlet.
Plastic cam chain tensioner nearly worn out and was replaced.

All the parts for it are genuine Yamaha and are very expensive.
(Twice the price of honda CG125 at least)

Neddle valve in the carb often leaks if the bike is on a side stand, just because it can wear out over the years. Swich off fuel every time you leave the bike on a side stand.

Oil change every 4000 miles will keep it alive for long time.
Chain needs good lubrication at all times.

It can go 30mph on 5th gear in town drinking allmost nothing at all!
Best acceleration 20-45, then a slow increase to 55-60.

Got my next bike now, honda NightHawk 650.
Bye bye GTI!
