Yes.. from the before 2001, the DT´s power valve was controlled by 3 wires.. 1 factor... 1 wire for in, out and Rev Meter .. upon reaching a desired amount of Revs the valve would open ,, and stay open.. the bike could litterally rev from then on until it blows up.
From 2001 the servo has 5 wires; in, out, rev, in to cpu, out of cpu. The Valve opens as normal based on Revs.. but then the CPU montiors performance, mix, revs etc and adjusts the valve for best performance, and at high top end revs closes the valve slightly to ensure no damage to bike.
