I don´t know how old this post is but I owned a 1994 yzf 750 with ohlins fork and a showa shock. It originally had a Sudco Pipe and had been ported and polished and cammed out for road racing. It had a flat spot till 3000 rpm and then shot off like a bat outta hell. I had bought it for cheap and custom painted it black and candy cobalt blue with 98 r1 style graphics in chrome. I moved from Indiana back to Dallas and found that my bike put a whooping down on R1´s and 1000 gsxr´s at street races and on the road. I put a Hindle pipe on it because the old Sudco pipe was collapsed on the 2 bottom pipes. This unleashed more power than before and made it more rideable to boot. I have owned a 900rr and a 929rr since then and my yzf seemed to be faster. i miss it alot but to get power you want you will have to rebuild the motor with parts. Mine lifeted in 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd. It was a violent bike with great handling. But it always had steps to the power delivery. I have worked in the industry for 2 years and have enjoyed riding everything. Yes everything including Turbo Harley´s and Busa´s. My bike was violent in every way but rewarding too. And the paint was killer. But it got wrecked by a friend. So yes you can make it fast but it costs. I could roll on at 80 miles per hour in 6th and eat up an R6. Which also is a great bike. So to ansawer your question they can be very quick. But as always tuning is the key. Jet kits go with full pipes and can reap about 15 horsepower in benefits on most bikes. Cams are another 10-15 hp. And on old school bikes ported heads reap 5-12 hp. Enjoy it! Its a great bike.
