I get 26 mpg Is there anything I can do to improve this?

I dont think this is normal for this motorcyle so I want to know what might be causing the poor gas mileage. Any ideas how to fix it? Also how much oil do I need for an oil change and what weight (ie; 10w30 5w20) what does it take? Thanks to anyone who might be able to help :-)
