The main jet should be a 90 if it is a DeLuxe model (single intake nozzle on the airfilter cover, 76 MPH top speed) and a 100 main jet if it is the Sport model (twin airfilter cover intakes and 85 MPH top speed). The pilot jet should be a 50 and the pilot screw should be around 1.75 turns out from full in on average. Testing throttle response times on idle to revving and back will determine the final setting of this. Points are 2.8 mm. before TDC and the gap should be 0.014 when right. Ensure that the baffles are the right way round in the exausts as the flat goes at the front on the large part. On the exaust baffle rear cover, remove the large collar inside as this stops the leak there where it joins and also removes the flat spot in the rev range. The power output of the CZ 250 was 16.5 BHP @ 28.5 Ft./Lbs. torque at 3,800 RPM. The redline was 6,500 RPM but the engine is bombproof. Andy. |
