Problems with electric start

Problems with electric start

The electric starter has not worked since I got the bike. An extra broke starter came with the bike so I suspect kick back problems. It has been switched to electronic ignition and starts easy first kick. If I go through the trouble of repairing the electric starter can I expect the same problems over and over?
