who´s put the ´comstar´ wheels on that?

sacralige.... ruinnation.... it looks like a wet dream 400 automatic. Do you remember those? I do hope the designer was shot at dawn!

anyway lets not be too acerbic at least this one has been saved from:

1/ Cam chain tensioner made from recycled chocolate fireguards

2/ Exhaust pipe that rots after a nanosecond

3/ Main ignition that falls apart after 20k miles

4/ Front brake so bad that if Honda made this bike now they would be sued in the american law courts

5/ poxy soft rear shockers

6/ rock hard seat that makes your kidneys bruised and you **** blood after 50 miles (i did 300 miles in a day touring france and had to have emergency surgery!)

7/ carbs that need balancing every 500 miles unless you want the motor to self destruct

8/ miss the 1000 mile oil change at your peril - how we laughwed as the single overhead cam was found in pieces in the oil filter!!

Apart from that this the bike was absolutely superb and stupendously reliable when thrashed at speeds made to bend the tacho needle deep into the red

maintained to the book and modded with a yosh, konis, decent tyres and a bit of gas flowed work to the head, jetted and tested this machine could be made to hustle - burnt out rd400´s just keeled over in it´s wake!! (ok come on rd400 owners lets see some comments - let battle commence!!)

best looker was the maroon F2 with the pin stripe paint job - bloody superb - I took mine on five european tours, twice to the isle of man, round britain twice, visited every race circuit going and to the ****shop daily and it didn´t miss a beat - chain got badly stretched though driving through those switchbacks in the alps!!

poor mans super bike it probably was but for £650 in 1980 and sold for £595 six years later I reckon that´s bargain fun in anyones book!

so com´on owners/ex owners lets have some more comments, and you rd400 boys don´t overegg the cake when you respond!!
