Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I just acquired a 1975 Honda CB500T from my soon to be father in-law. The engine, gas tank, and other various parts were kept in out of the weather, but the frame and rest of the parts were outside. He was using it as a bike to commute to and from work, until he started having issues with it. From what I understand the cylinder wall ended up being scored, so he fixed it all, but never completed the reassembly.

The main reason I´m posting is for guidance in this project. Due to the frame being outside, it needs cleaned up and re- powdercoated. The chrome on the bike is pitted all over the place, especially the forks. But I´m not too terribly worried about wiring, brake lines, fuel lines, etc. because I´m planning on replacing all of that. I found a few different sites that have OEM wiring harnesses and such. The main thing I´m having issues with at this point is finding new forks for it. I´m not sure if I need to get forks that are specifically for this bike or if there are other forks that will fit it. I was thinking about getting the current ones re-chromed, but wasn´t sure what the cost comparison of getting a whole new front end assembly would be compared to the cost of new chrome.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Thank you,
Tim
