Team Green - in front of you, that is! said 2002-07-04 14:08
I have owned two 900RR´s (93, 97), a 600 (way back in the day), and countless dirt bikes. I have also ridden almost every make of sport bike there is to date - and I have to tell you the following.
I recently started studying Chinese in Taiwan - where big bikes are not exactly legal. Anyhoo - I was in the market for a big bike just for the weekends. . .and what do you know, I found a 97 7RR for 130,000 NT. It wasn´t what I wanted - as I was loyal to the 9´s, but the price was right, it was fresh (under 7K km) and looked menacing. I had already resigned myself to not being able to compete with the big bores - as I was giving up weight and horsepower. But. . .I have yet to be dethroned on Taiwanese roads. The bike is suprisingly fast (changed the front sproket down one and a 3 degree advancer, K-n-N filter - you know, for quicker accel), nimble for its weight and as solid as anything I´ve ever ridden. True. . .my first pick of bikes would be the 954 but if you´re on a budget or can find a clean 7RR - don´t miss the chance; it´ll both surprise you and make you a better rider.
