| I have a 91´ bandit that I am looking at selling for $1800.00. I have slightly modified it thought with a custom cafe style fairing and new signal lights and some small others. I also have 35k on the bike. It sounds like a very resonable price to me as long as its in good shape. As a starter bike it is excellent. It is very light, nimble and forgiving with plenty of power for one person. If you through slightly softer than stock rubbers on there it corners like a dream. One of the reasons it is such a good learner bike as well is because it really teaches you how to shift. With a 400cc engine and 4 pistons the gear range in the low gears is not very big. You can easily find a nice cruising rpm in several gears but you will shift more on it than you would on a newer 500 to 600cc bike. I have driven that bike from Kingston, Ontario all the way to Victoria, BC and back to Calgary where I live now. It´s a fun piece and am going to miss it when I upgrade this spring. There is only two down sides I can come up with for the bike. One, if you do drop it... it is not a common bike. Due to its rarity people that know it will always strike up conversation which is cool, but... shops don´t keep the parts in stock. This means that if an engine side cover or something specific to that bike cracks or breaks the parts have to come in all the way from Japan. It´s not crazy expensive or anything it just takes a long time. In my first season I had a bail and I ordered the parts right away. I did not receive them for just under a month. And Two it really lacks power and performance when you throw a passenger on the back. It is still alot of fun to drive even with a passenger but they will not get an impression of what the bike really feels or handles like. The difference is substantial. If you do buy it and want to see some ideas for making it look even sweeter than it does already send me an email. I would certainly recommend it. |
